Day two New Year

Okay... here I go again. Day two, and I am really trying hard to keep this up. What's the issue today? Pit Bulls, Rottweillers and other dogs that have it in them to kill people - children. At the same time that I'm horrified about the recent news, I'm really pissed off! Okay, New Years only 3 hours old, there was a 5 year old little girl, getting mauled to death by the family "Pet" in Merseyside England. I happen to be in South Yorkshire, Sheffield area and I'm telling you, I've had it with these kinds of tragedies! Where are the parents and grand parents natural instincts and fears when it comes to this? Scenario - the parents went out to celebrate - ringing in the new year, leaving their five year old daughter with her grandmother. Her uncle owned a pit bull. Now get this - this animal has been reported before as to having problems - whether that be in attacking other animals, or people - not sure. The incident is still under investigation.

Problem with it is this - why did the grandmother not - LOCK - the dog away while her granddaughter was there? How many times must we hear over and over about children being attacked before it makes us go, "Hmmm, just to be on the "SAFE" side - I think I'll lock the dog outside." Well yeah! Why don't you! After all - the child was not raised with the dog. The dog was not raised with the child. She wasn't always present, and so the dog has no bond with this innocent child. So why didn't the grandmother think - I better not take any chances? Not only that - fire works were going off in the neighborhood! That alone makes dogs nervous! Why didn't the parents think to say, "Mom - can you lock the dog up tonight, just to be on the safe side, I don't think its a good idea to have him loose in the house with "Child's name" because they're not used to each other." Why was that not stated? Enforced? Insisted upon? Because all they could think about was heading out to party the night away - that's why!

In conclusion... grandmother - mother - father - Uncle - should all be prosecuted for 2nd degree murder and child endangerment, as well negligence! Yep.. I said it... and I mean it.

In the end, that baby died in a way that no child should - because parents weren't being parents! They should suffer ten times to the degree that she did!

Such a horribly sad and tragic event. Nothing can take the place of a little common sense. It's a shame so few people have it today. It's always the innocent and frail who suffer the most from the ignorance of others.

So sad. My daughter stayed at my sister's home 2 Christmas's ago and my sister's little shaggy terrier of some kind or another bit my daughter in the face. I can't look at that dog now without wanting to give it a good swift kick. My daughter's fine with a small scar as a reminder underneath her eye. We had to rush her to the emergency room and the Police made a report and took the dog for a week. It was an important lesson learned by all of us. We've always had big dogs in our home. They're primarily guard dogs and very protective of the children. My sister’s dog is not used to having children about. I hate to imagine if it would have been a big dog.

Don't blame the Breeds for the problem. Those who raise them to be aggressive are the problem. I have met stranger dogs who should have been a bit wary, but were total puppies around me, and so-called vicious breeds too.

There are some breeds that are known to be risky around children. If a person is stupid enough to get a dog like that when they have children, then they are stupid enough to have their children taken away. And that has started to happen here in the States. The courts are developing a low tolerance towards these people who have "dangerous breeds" and children in the same house. Had a neighbors dog once that started to go after my 4 year old at the time. The dog only threatened her once. The solution was swift. Took the dog into the woods with my Browning 9mm Hi-Power. End of dog, end of problem.
