<DrRich3D01> I wish for you to make sure you have the viewpoint media player installed on your system
<DrRich3D01> the VMP
<QuestionBot> Moderation is now on.
<DrRich3D01> it comes with most modern pcs and is part of aol
<DrRich3D01> http://www.viewpoint.com/technologies/viewpoint-media-player.shtml
<DrRich3D01> \that is where you download the player
<DrRich3D01> okey ?
<DrRich3D01> and hello MacDughgal
<DAZ_Biggie> To ask David a question, click on the QuestionBot on the right hand side of the chat window and send your question as a private message to the Qbot.
<DrRich3D01> and all.
<DrRich3D01> Daz and I hope you have some good questions for us today
<DrRich3D01> this is a really cool technology we are talking about
<BetterThanLife> What can be extracted from an Enliven created webpage?
<DrRich3D01> ok, new question coming...
<DrRich3D01> extracted...ok
<DrRich3D01> the scene sits inside of an html page
<DrRich3D01> and its size is defined...
<DrRich3D01> inside that scene exists the *.mtx file which holds the xml code
<DrRich3D01> it can be extracted and looked at
<DrRich3D01> if one knows how
<DrRich3D01> hello
<DrRich3D01> sorry about that
<DrRich3D01> hang with me here
<DrRich3D01> the question wasn't answered
<DrRich3D01> and we have other qs
<DrRich3D01> the 3D content can not be extracted
<DrRich3D01> it is inside of a file with a last name of *.mts
<DrRich3D01> and that is tough to get to
<DrRich3D01> if you did...it can only be used for showing in the Viewpoint Media Player
<DrRich3D01> it can not be reversed engineered
<DrRich3D01> I saw a lot of talk about this in the forums.
<DrRich3D01> hope that helps answer the question
<BetterThanLife> How does using Enliven work with the Daz EULA? Because according to the EULA you can't publish anything with Daz Content in a 3D format.
<DrRich3D01> ok, this feels like a potential repeat of the first question
<DrRich3D01> this is a one way street for the 3D content
<DrRich3D01> this works because you are displaying the content but not sending it further downstream
<DAZ_SKondris> To chime in from the DAZ 3D standpoint on this issue,
<DrRich3D01> Ok...and our pals at Daz are going to weigh in on this too...
<DrRich3D01> please!
<DAZ_SKondris> there's no violation of our EULA with this technology, as the final "deliverable" doesn't contain any extractable 3D data.
<DAZ_SKondris> we consider it similar in fashion to someone creating an animation and sharing that on the web, etc.
<DAZ_Biggie> To ask David a question, click on the QuestionBot on the right hand side of the chat window and send your question as a private message to the Qbot.
<LordNikon> Why can't a MTS file be Reverse Engineered?
<DAZ_SKondris> If somehow a method is introduced that allows users to extract 3D data, then it would be an issue yes, but as that's not possible, there is no issue.
<DrRich3D01> Oh LordNikon, it could only be used within Enliven, and Enliven only exports Viewpoint Experience Technology content
<DrRich3D01> have you guys looked at some of this stuff>?
<DrRich3D01> I mean we have a smooth path from your creating in a 3D application like Carrara or Max or others.
<DrRich3D01> you build the objects, the characters in your 3D application, you animate it, add texture maps....all that stuff
<DrRich3D01> just as you are today,...then it is simple
<DrRich3D01> import it into Enliven
<DrRich3D01> the animations are intact, the texture maps too
<DrRich3D01> you then make your objects interactive...
<DrRich3D01> trigger the animations with interactors...those are
<DrRich3D01> bit of code automatically built for you in Enliven
<DrRich3D01> you could use a texture map (think button)
<DrRich3D01> to trigger someting happening in the 3D scene
<DrRich3D01> the scene...by the way is just like a little theater
<DrRich3D01> you have a back curtain and a front curtain
<DrRich3D01> the curtains can be layerd
<DrRich3D01> layered...sorry!
<DrRich3D01> with alpha channels...
<DrRich3D01> as a flash or swf too!
<DrRich3D01> then, on the stage....
<DrRich3D01> can be your objects
<DrRich3D01> this is not an immersive experience
<DrRich3D01> it is an experience you reach into
<DrRich3D01> and make stuff happen
<DrRich3D01> then, the html around the scene...where the scene is held
<DrRich3D01> it can be used to trigger stuff.
<DrRich3D01> ok, let me put it another way
<DrRich3D01> think of it as a dash board to the car you drive
<DrRich3D01> you have buttons and dials....
<DrRich3D01> .....
<rj0> Ongoing Enliven development? (eg. Flash version support)?
<DrRich3D01> oh, that is a good question
<DrRich3D01> yes, there is actually a total resurgance of support at Viewpoint
<DrRich3D01> what about...you ask...
<DrRich3D01> ok, we see that some of the stuff with Flash can be updated, and there are some On2 Video encoder updates that are needed
<DrRich3D01> the Viewpoint Media Player was updated beyond Enliven
<DrRich3D01> to employ the On2 vp7 encoder...that gives better compression and much better playback
<DrRich3D01> that translates to a richer scene in your page
<DrRich3D01> better interactivity
<DrRich3D01> and better audio in stereo within the scene
<DrRich3D01> and...video can be played even better on an object
<DrRich3D01> or in the background
<DrRich3D01> or on the front of the theater
<DrRich3D01> I am really trying to paint a picture here
<DrRich3D01> you are all visual people...
<DrRich3D01> this is a new technology you are looking at
<DrRich3D01> I mean...what percentage of the internet websites available today have interactive 3D experiences?
<DrRich3D01> I don't mean a cool Second Life situation
<DrRich3D01> that is immersive
<DrRich3D01> this is individual
<DrRich3D01> http://demos.viewpoint.com/VETBlueRibbon/Vodafone_Samsung_Z105/
<DrRich3D01> look at that phone please...it is a simple example
<DrRich3D01> I will get a few others....
<kokuryu> Has enliven been fixed and updated to work with current browsers?
<DrRich3D01> ok, good question
<DrRich3D01> let's break it down
<DrRich3D01> Enliven is the software program which outputs content
<DrRich3D01> for play in the Viewpoint Media Player...a plug in within the browser
<DrRich3D01> the answer is YES to your question
<DrRich3D01> the Viewpoint Media Player receives constant updates
<DrRich3D01> the greatest effort for it right now at Viewpoint is all about the Macintosh
<DrRich3D01> making sure that the VMP is current to how it works in Windows
<DrRich3D01> and in Vista
<DrRich3D01> it works great in vista...
<DrRich3D01> but...let me say something negative on that front
<DrRich3D01> I'm just being real
<DrRich3D01> Enliven Pro doesn't work in Vista
<DrRich3D01> dont' buy it if you plan to use it right now in the OS
<DrRich3D01> well, you know what happens...all of a sudden Daz3D starts showing their great customer service
<DrRich3D01> and they grant a return...so, sorry!
<DrRich3D01> next question
<rj0> Deep Exploration version in DAZ bundle?
<DrRich3D01> oh man, you guys hit hard...kinda
<DrRich3D01> that is a very relevant question
<DrRich3D01> here is why...
<DrRich3D01> Enliven Pro can be purchased with Deep Exploration (for translating 25 different 3D data set formats)
<DrRich3D01> the version included is 3.5
<DrRich3D01> well....Right Hemisphere makes Deep Exploration and
<DrRich3D01> their current version of this software is 5.0
<DrRich3D01> to upgrade from 3.5 to 5 (assuming you have it sitting there on your computer)
<DrRich3D01> is $149US
<DrRich3D01> that is a long way around to the answer
<DrRich3D01> sorry
<DrRich3D01> but the answer is absolutely yes...there is a lot of talk betweeen
<DrRich3D01> Right Hemisphere and Viewpoint.
<DrRich3D01> and it is all god.
<DrRich3D01> oops
<DrRich3D01> it is all good!
<BetterThanLife> If you are ooutputting from Carrara, is Deep Exploration necessary?
<DrRich3D01> no
<DrRich3D01> that is why we recompiled Enliven recently
<DrRich3D01> was to extract Deep Exploration....
<DrRich3D01> because Carrara and Enliven were designed by the same engineering team
<DrRich3D01> they work together really well
<DrRich3D01> I have personally experimented with it a lot
<DrRich3D01> and it is just as advertised.
<DrRich3D01> build the objects, texture map them, animate them
<DrRich3D01> then take them into Enliven and create interactivity
<DrRich3D01> decorate your theater
<DrRich3D01> place it into a web page...there are templates that come with it...in the publishing room
<DrRich3D01> it is kinda like carrara
<DrRich3D01> with rooms,
<DrRich3D01> and poser too
<DrRich3D01> they are all there together
<DrRich3D01> hanging out in Scotts Valley California
<DrRich3D01> so, no...just carrara and enliven work well
<DrRich3D01> what other questions?
<BetterThanLife> I noticed that Poser 7 dropped vet export. (Poser 6 had it.) Is there any chance of getting E-F to put it back in?
<DrRich3D01> there are no discussions going on at this time.
<DAZ_Biggie> To ask David a question, click on the QuestionBot on the right hand side of the chat window and send your question as a private message to the Qbot.
<DrRich3D01> hey here is another example
<DrRich3D01> http://c-moremicro.automationdirect.com/animation/index.html
<DrRich3D01> this is very cool,
<DrRich3D01> check it out and book mark it
<DrRich3D01> it is one of the first examples of a 3D product configurator...which fills a fully functional
<DrRich3D01> live merchant engine
<DrRich3D01> I insist you all look....
<ghost_13> I just bought the deep exploration bundle and didn't even check or notice that enliven was in it, is it already part of the 5.0 version?
<DrRich3D01> ...
<DrRich3D01> if you just purchase Deep Exploration 5, then no, Enliven Pro is not included
<DrRich3D01> if you just purchased the Enliven Pro bundled with Deep Exploration
<DrRich3D01> then the version you received is version 3.5
<DrRich3D01> of Deep Exploration
<DrRich3D01> if you wish to upgrade your Deep Exploration to verison 5.
<DrRich3D01> then it will cost $149US
<DrRich3D01> that is a very good price actually...the software
<DrRich3D01> has a street price of around $495
<DrRich3D01> and is vastly more powerful than it was
<DrRich3D01> but, that is another subject
<BetterThanLife> How would you compare bandwidth required by a 3D enliven webpage to a typical animation?
<DrRich3D01> that is a question about overall page content size
<DrRich3D01> how much does it weigh
<DrRich3D01> if someone has a broadband connection (cable or DSL)
<DrRich3D01> then they are easily within the bandwidth requirement...
<DrRich3D01> there is some loading that occurs...and that can all be made to have a flash anim over the top
<DrRich3D01> there are preloaders and postloaders...
<rj0> In followup, Enliven Flash support still at version 5?
<DrRich3D01> yes
<DrRich3D01> here is another example
<DrRich3D01> http://demos.viewpoint.com/VETBlueRibbon/Prius_Synergy_Drive/pc/index.html
<DrRich3D01> that example shows a new car...in its environment
<DAZ_The Crow> What is hyperview? I've heard something about that.
<DrRich3D01> oh cool question
<DrRich3D01> lets go back to the theater in your minds eye
<DrRich3D01> hyperview lets an object jump off of the stage
<DrRich3D01> and out into the browser
<DrRich3D01> casting a shadow onto the desk top
<DrRich3D01> it can be a timed thing...so that it jumps up and then jumps back
<DrRich3D01> here is a cool example
<DrRich3D01> http://www.rich3d.com/fall/3D/messer/exampMesser.html
<brady_mac> How many web browsers are supported at the moment? And which ones are they?
<DrRich3D01> Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari
<kokuryu> The demo says that sound was supposed to be with it - was there sound with it? I didnt hear anything...
<DrRich3D01> I noticed that too!
<DrRich3D01> that is an example from the Viewpoint site...so I am not certain why the audio wasn't playing
<DrRich3D01> audio is another triggered animation in Viewpoint Experience Technology scenes.
<kokuryu> Is there a hyperview creation tutorial?
<DrRich3D01> for example...audio could be timed to kick on when something snaps shut
<DrRich3D01> and the audio is also encoded into the *mts file
<DrRich3D01> sorry the answer to the prior question got inserted after that last question
<DrRich3D01> hyperview tutorial....eeek
<DrRich3D01> no there isn't one yet...that is a great idea
<DrRich3D01> the three tutorials included with Enliven are really good...
<DrRich3D01> but they don't include that...
<DrRich3D01> I will tell you something...to make hyperview kick in, to make it stop and start
<DrRich3D01> is not that tough...I mean, not too many steps
<DrRich3D01> we will do a tutorial on that subject
<DrRich3D01> next
<DrRich3D01> see ya gryffydd thanks for the PMs
<DrRich3D01> I was just asked somehow through a private PM
<DrRich3D01> 'how muchg understanding of flash is required?"
<DrRich3D01> well, none
<DAZ_Biggie> To ask David a question, click on the QuestionBot on the right hand side of the chat window and send your question as a private message to the Qbot.
<DrRich3D01> you don't need to know how to use Flash to use this software
<DrRich3D01> if you get Enliven Pro, then go through the videos
<DrRich3D01> there are three, they each last about 8 minutes
<DrRich3D01> they will show step by step how to make the software work
<DrRich3D01> also, on www.rich3d.com you can find a pdf tutorial on
<DrRich3D01> making textures swap
<DrRich3D01> it is free
<DrRich3D01> here is an example of texture swaps
<DrRich3D01> http://www.rich3d.com/fall/3D/swishclock/BrightFusionframed.html
<DrRich3D01> hey guys I gotta scoot, I am going to visit with RH!
<DrRich3D01> thank you for all your questions
<DrRich3D01> add me as your friend in the art zone
<QuestionBot> Thank you for your time David.
<DrRich3D01> and...I wish to come back here in 6 weeks...and maybe announce a contest
<DrRich3D01> so, see you later!
