<DAZ_Biggie> But we're going to get started...
<DAZ_Biggie> Things are a bit dicey... *laughs nervously*
<DAZ_SSS> Please submit questions by clicking on the @QuestionBot user on the right hand side of your screen
<DAZ_Biggie> ok, we're trying to get started now...
<DAZ_Biggie> Thanks for your patience...
<DAZ_Biggie> oh, Qbot... checked out...
<DAZ_Biggie> test
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Testing one two...lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Greetings everyone! Wow...hope you're not all carrying pitchforks and sickles; but just in case you are, Shrek went that way ---> :) Thanks for taking time out to be a part of this, and especially those who reside in far away places with huge differences in time zones.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I'm grateful for having this opportunity to share some ideas with you, and for DAZ having invited me. I don't have all the answers, naturally, but I might have a few that will help make it worth your while and at least get you to think.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I would also like to take a moment to invite any of you who are not on my friends list to send me an invitation; the honor of being added to yours is all mine. FREE COPY of Maya to the first 50 too! (only kidding!!)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This is called speed typing
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The main topic I want to discuss tonight is with respect to how you can become your own boss; meaning, how you can increase your chances for converting some of your artistic endeavors and efforts into a respectable income.
<DAZ_Biggie> Thanks for your patience... :-D
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> You may not become a millionaire, but you can go a long way toward achieving that goal; and at the very least, going about things a little differently may open doors that were previously closed. So, I am going to ask you to bear with me.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Also, I will answer as many questions during this as the staff here at ArtZone allows time for, regardless of how long it takes. So while my gums appear to be flapping, don't think I'm ignoring you. That is simply not my style.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Much of what I know comes from experience and having learned the hard way, and from making the same mistakes I now try to avoid repeating. So don't think that any of you are being singled out.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I am among the first to say that art is whatever you want it to be. If arranging acorns into a fancy mosaic pattern is your bag, then by all means, go for it; but at the same time, I am a realist and know what sells and what does not.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> It is my intent, therefore, to cut to the chase through much of this in order to give you more to think about, and perhaps, even get you to discover some proven ways to get into the "game."
<DAZ_mattw> Well, that was an adventure. I think we're ready to go.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I am also going to move along here at a fairly rapid pace because there is much ground to cover. So I’ll try to tackle a few questions first, and then begin with 10 simple rules of thumb:
<DAZ_Biggie> Please try and refrain from messaging Jonathan directly...

<Cum Dileas> On your site you have 9 different style galleries, well over 1,000 pictures. Where do all your ideas come from?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Cum Dileas... thanks for asking.... they come from ordinary experiences and situations in life! Nothing special....really :)
<FrederickRM> Your work is incredible but how do you deal with the LONG render times when using Bryce?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Fred: Many thanks... I use OTHER computers and pray...:) I also keep battery backup units...
<kulay> How did you get started with Bryce?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Kulay: My first interest with Bryce actually started in 1995 while I was a beta tester for Worlds Away on Compuserve, a virtual world.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Okay… here we go.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 1.) STOP thinking like an artist, and START thinking like an entrepreneur. If you have something to sell, put it in a pretty package. In short: Leave your EGO home. Commercial interests are concerned about profits, not appeasing personality quirks.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 2.) Target your market. Making "DARK ART" may be fun and challenging, but it dramatically decreases your chances to land a contract for the type of art that puts LIGHT into people's lives.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 3.) USE WHAT WORKS. Those who buy art could care less about how you achieved it. They don't care about how "perfect" a widget looks. All they know is this: they either like it or they do not. If it makes them feel good, that is all that matters.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> You may feel compelled to explain how you made a picture, when among fellow artists, for various reasons, but you are NOT obligated to tell the public what they simply don't need to know. That does nothing to shore up your bet or help your chances.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 4.) Do not make art to impress other digital artists. They are the fringe and will never become your best customers, let alone biggest fans. Instead, go after the vast majority out there who enjoy art without giving it the third degree.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 5.) Do NOT use e-mail to make initial contacts. Use snail mail and then wait for the party to contact you via e-mail first. Most consider unsolicited e-mail SPAM, and it is usually cut off by lower lieutenants before it reaches the right party.
<DAZ_Biggie> Forgive the quickness of the info flow... Jonathan is trying to make up for lost time... ;)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 6.) Know who your perspective clients are. They are people too! They have likes and dislikes. Use human nature to your advantage. If they feel as if you're only "using" them, you'll not likely succeed to get their ears, let alone respect.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 7.) Learn how to get out of your own way! Artists tend to be their own worst enemies, and in many respects, are prima-donnas; and worse still, they are often ARROGANT eccentrics. Exercising a little humility really works! Use honey, not vinegar.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 8.) Do NOT COPY other artists or follow in their footsteps artistically. Instead, stand out from the crowd and become the only show in town with respect to what you do. That sells; everything else is ignored and dies a quick death.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 9.) Do NOT gauge what sells by what you see dominating the 3D arts community. It is a dead end for most, and rarely if ever results in bringing about what pays the bills.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 10.) BE PREPARED! Be ready to give them what they want when they want it. When asked a price, DON'T HESITATE or FLINCH. Come right out and make the ground rules clear.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> You are not beggars! Do not beg anyone to take your art!! Do not get over-anxious or zealous either. Stay calm, professional, courteous, and be prompt. If you go in half-cocked and unprepared, you'll most likely fail.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The philosophy I put into practice really works. Although much of it is common sense, it also comes from experience and from being baptized under fire. As such, your approach to landing a deal is actually more important than the art itself.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> If you think the world is going to beat a path to your door because your art is the best thing since sliced bread, think again. It isn't the art; rather, it's YOUR ATTITUDE that counts. If you don't believe in it, then neither will anyone else!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> At the same time, you have to know what is most likely to attract buyers, over that which is, by design, made to titillate peers. In other words, learn how to distinguish and self-discriminate between what is really art and what is not.
<amsolano> Do you think your studies in mathematics & science helped you in anyway in your artistic designs???
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Amasolano: interesting question... in some respects yes, but realistically NO. Art is simply art, that comes from the heart, not the head anyway... :)
<moonrancher> How much would you say being able to make enough money is on your mind?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Moon: thanks for asking.. It depends on how hungry I am... :) But from a practical sense, gaining a dime more than I need is what it is all about.. it is also nice to earn money while fun
<rmash1948> Hey Jonathan. Thanks for coming to see us. Other than practice practice practice, what advice to you have for new Bryce users?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Rmash: Oh thank you! This is an honor for me and a real treat... DON'T EVER GIVE UP. PATIENCE is a virtue too.... don't be intimated. :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I offer this example to show you something. This pic, AUGUST MOON, is my best-selling print ever, and yet, it is nothing really. It isn't even a high quality digitally. It took under 15 minutes in Bryce to make, and yet, it continues to fly.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The question is why?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> There is a distinct difference between genuine COMPOSITION and drawing attention toward that which serves no other purpose artistically, other than to impress rivals. That is not art, it is SHOW AND TELL; and that doesn't play well on Broadway.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Here is another that took a little more time, but not that much as compared to what many have involved since. It also has no post work at all and was made and rendered entirely in Bryce:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I invite you to browse through my gallery here later. I have deliberately chosen things as examples of what sells, and emphasized how it could be done using "little old" Bryce. They are not there to impress you, rather, to inform.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> It should also be mentioned that in many cases, the preliminary work involved proved to have a greater impact than post work, which is a concept that many have underestimated.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Just keep in mind, the more post work you do, the more difficult it becomes to recreate it in the event you need a reproduction size beyond what the original is capable of having extrapolated.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Here is a fairly recent example of considerable post work that was finished a few weeks ago during the early part of November 2006. It was however, rendered at 5400x3600@300dpi to start:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Here is the FREE wallpaper for the same image made especially for wide screen monitors. It will give you a much better idea with respect to details, though, for sure: http://www.shortcummings.com/Higher%20Than%20Wings-WALLPAPER.jpg
<Byrdie> How do you find time to do all this?!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Byrdie.... hiya! I MAKE THE TIME. I don't watch much TV... and I make it a point to try to accomplish something every day, regardless of how much I would rather do something else...
<FrederickRM> Your artwork is awesome. I want to be you when I grow up! But how do you deal with the LONG render times for high rez images and great lighting?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Fred....ah... no big deal... I am no better than anyone else... and I have faith that you can blow my doors in any time you REALLY WANT to...
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Rendering is relative to how badly I need the finished image
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> if it is for web, then I don't give it much thought, but if it is for the commercial interests, then I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT... It isn't pretty, but it must be done. :)
<Byrdie> If I made donuts I could easily figure out how to price 'em, how do I go about figuring out what to charge people who wanna buy my art? Yeah, I'm a newbie at this. LOL!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Byrdie... stay tuned... hopefully I'll answer many of those type questions :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Having said that, here are some more tips that can increase your chances as well worth considering. Consider reading this info: http://www.tildefrugal.net/photo/dpi.php
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.photoshopninja.com/2005/07/image-resolution-and-dpi-explained/
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 1.) Render images at the largest size and highest resolution possible. In Bryce, nothing less than a 5400x3600@300dpi image will do. This protects you when post work has been added from having to start over from scratch.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 2.) Stay within the parameters of WIDE SCREEN aspect ratio formats, such as 3:2 or 16:9, as most photography is produced. It is easier to cut portions away from a picture, than to add more. http://www.cnet.com/4520-7874_1-5140690-1.html
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 3.) Do NOT try to compete with photography. If you get too close to a photograph, it actually hurts your chances to sell it as art. A good way around this is to give your pic a surreal look, in addition to its realistic details.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This pic made entirely in Bryce is a no-brainer actually. Many have written me to ask where it was I took the snapshot---which is the ultimate compliment, despite it being just plain silly. The point is not that you can do any better, rather why simplicity works
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Again, it is not how technically great a picture is: it is the idea. And Desert Lake, for all its simplicity, sells. As an imaginer artist of sorts, I DON'T QUESTION it, and neither should you! When I slapped that together, it was as if I was the only one in the world who could. Put yourself in the same frame of mind.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 4.) Try to come up with a STYLE that is unique to you. Many times, a style will far outpace what others are doing artistically by virtue of the fact it's different. Being different tends to invoke increased excitement and interest.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 5.) Be conspicuous about how you tag art, not flamboyant and in such a way that it takes away from it. The title you select can also be extremely important; therefore, take them all seriously as a necessary compliment/accent to the art itself.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> As a side note: there is a difference between how I tag art to be shown on-line, as opposed to for real. It can also be detrimental to act like a pack rat guarding cheese by splashing huge tags of one sort or another across a web-based image.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The best security, after all, is simply not giving anyone something worthy to steal in the first place. Those who would consider snatching your art are small fish anyway, and of really no consequence. If someone really wanted to steal it, they would just purchase it and make copies. Sweating the small stuff does more harm than good.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 6.) Separate your art into coherent and easily recognizable categories. Then they will be "judged" according to their "class," as opposed to something it's not meant to be. Humor, for example, generally does not bode well with landscapes, and the result is both categories suffer because of it.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 7.) Ask yourself this question: would my grandmother or aunt or uncle or church pastor hang this in their home in a place of honor? If it is "yes," you're well on your way; if not, then you had best rethink your position. Those who buy the most art generally do not care how cool something is.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> NOTE: Creating the "best" looking and most realistic wart doesn't change a thing or help you. It's still a wart, and most don't buy warts! A witch or toad may like them, but everyone else is usually not interested. See my point?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 8.) Learn how to COMMUNICATE. Is your theme a UNIVERSAL language? Meaning, can someone living in China and another residing in Brazil get the same message? If not, you're limiting your prospects by default. Art that would be deemed offensive is also high risk.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 9.) Let the viewer's mind FILL IN THE BLANKS. When making art, remember the golden rule: LESS IS MORE! Many times you'll find a piece more attractive by leaving distractions and details OUT. In fact, too much can and will often be a huge turn off.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> A case in point: my art originally began to take off when I inadvertently discovered removing human figures from the foregrounds helped. Until then, few if any really noticed. Before then, I thought just the opposite. Not so! If it was made in 1776, okay; but in 2006, forget it. For each of those that succeed, 500 or more fail.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This doesn't mean you have to give up your passion for using human figures; rather, that you know that by doing so, you are limiting your chances to have a commercial venture take a serious interest. Yes, there are markets, but they are extremely narrow and low-paying compared to alternatives.
<cwrw> DO you do al lyour own printing in house and if so what equipment do you use?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> CWTW: thanks for coming! I do some printing in house, but VERY LITTLE. It is much easier to use those who have the high end machines. and plotters. One of those can cost $50,000 and up easily.... but HP makes great stuff for the money for home work as well...
<DAZ_SSS> Please submit questions by clicking on the @QuestionBot user on the right hand side of your screen
<Lunastar> How long have you been using Bryce?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Hi Luna! Glad to see you're still with us... :) Professionally since 2000, but I was actually using it way earlier than that...1995
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This older pic was originally the backdrop for three little girls. It has since been in my top 10 best-sellers list ever since. Good things can happen just by backing off a pic a bit by simply removing things. Try it and see! This is all Bryce, and anyone could have done it just as well, if not better.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> A "pretty" face doesn't sell well because people do not want to be surrounded by things that make them feel inferior. Instead, they want to place themselves into that situation as being the "one," not your fictitious model. They might admire it, but few BUY it. See the difference?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I don't expect you to like or necessarily agree with that assessment and observation; rather, I'm just telling you like it is. Therefore, don't think like those who always seem to gravitate toward limited audiences! Make some art for show (if you must) and some for dough!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The fact is: G-rated movies still out-sell everything else combined. Capturing innocence and things that people think are cute have a much higher value commercially than eroticism. If you insist, you will learn the error of your ways and wonder why companies try to avoid you like the plague.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Thus, be very careful about how you utilize and incorporate human figures into your art. From a commercial vantage point, it is an extremely narrow field and very shaky. Simply sticking a figure in someone's face, however, is NOT what sells. I am also talking about a massive numbers of copies, not just a drop in the bucket.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I have over 500 pictures under contract. Among them, less than a half a dozen include HUMAN figures. What does that say about the market? Animals sell, humans go nowhere fast! Yes sure, the guys think the hot-looking babes are cool, but see how many will reach into their wallet and back it up with what counts.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This pic, dubbed "Chicken of the Sea" is one of the exceptions. Yes, it has sold, but its numbers do not come even close to matching those without human figures; and if I had to depend on this to buy dinner, I would be eating cat food most of the time. Thanks but no thanks!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bear in mind, this comes from a guy who used to earn money selling nudes and pin up girl sketches to fancy nightclubs. It can be done, but it is the long way around, and money is hit and miss at best. The one thing it is not is: STEADY; nor is it reliable
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Instead, use them to compliment a COMPOSITION in a creative way. Since everyone likes a good story, it is critically important that your figures tell a tale. Angels, pixies, and fairies, for example, have to provide a message, not just sexy looks! But suit yourself…
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The idea conveyed in your image is actually more important than the items being used. Themes related to nature and the great outdoors still sell the best, so keep that in mind when you set out to create something. Creatures are in; people are out.
<BrokenWings> Jonathan, hi, what got you started in Bryce instead of some other 3d program?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Broken Wings: Hi Beckie... thanks for the interest.. I really appreciate it.... ah... I list them all at the end.. so hang in there... but... MORPHING GOT ME STARTED in Bryce....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This is "Cautiously Inviting" made entirely in Bryce, except for the doe. And though there is minimal post work, there was actually more pre-work involved to bring this about. It was done using numerous layers, with each worked separately before being combined into the scene as a whole.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> slap me for hitting the send twice...:)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> When DaVinci and Michelangelo were in their hay day, cameras didn't exist. Now they do, so few get as excited anymore. Yes, many still appreciate hand-drawn and painted things, but they are not willing to pay the going rate to obtain them.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Consider the obvious: what earns you more, selling a single image for $500 or 25,000 copies at $15 each? Then do NOT cut yourself short by virtue of your venue type. You will see that selling a half a million doodads with only a six-cent royalty per unit adds up real quick, and that can happen for several months in a row.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> In comparison, you'd have a better chance to succeed at the horse and buggy industry than you will at that type art. It is relative to the times in which we live, and like it or not, that's just the way it is. Yes, you will always find exceptions, but this is about focusing on the RULE.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> A sketch of your brother or sister might have a sentimental value, but for the most part, it just doesn't sell. Consider the obvious: How many have you purchased lately? By increasing your artistic appeal, it is more likely to multiply.
<DAZ_Biggie> *E*
* DAZ_Biggie slaps Jonathan (at his request)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I will also go further and say that the "arts" community itself is usually out of touch with what the public can't seem to get enough of. So, I wouldn't try to "fit" in there. I haven't met a self-anointed art critic yet who's done well besides, and I usually consider it a compliment when they are not impressed. So should you!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The "EXPERTS" would say that this is "lousy," while spilled paint was "pure genius" as well; but the public says differently. This too, however, is all Bryce except for a few of the imports.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> ah... that feels much better... thanks Big Guy!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> A sci-fi scene can be great fun, but puts the effort in an extremely awkward marketing position. It may play well in the gaming industry perhaps, but those opportunities are very hard to come by. In some ways, your passion may be holding you back.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> What's the solution? Easy. DIVERSIFY your artistic portfolio, and never keep all your eggs in one basket. Art that comes from the heart, as opposed to the head, is almost always what out lives and out sells the rest.
<Bea> Hi Jonathan, so be honest what do you think of Bryce 6 :)
<bernards> Jonathan...what new features of Bryce 6 do you like the most?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bea: I am so glad to see you here....!! :) I like the brushes in the TE, of course, and that's because I use that more than most things... but of course, the HDRI lighting...... I also like the larger libraries... but more than anything else... Bryce 6 establishes the basis for what is going to be an awesome ride
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> hang in there folks! Youi're going to love it!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> If you stop and think about it, by learning to simply PLAY THE GAME, you can get yourself into a better position to expand into other areas that are not as popular or viable marketing assets at this time. Then you can gain leeway.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> But if you're not making a company any money, being the best of the best with respect to designing throwing axes is an exercise in futility. It really comes down to being smart. You either learn to make it by adapting, or suffer the consequences.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Hence, what you should be concentrating on is how to get your foot in the door, and doing so without making your presence unwelcome. Once you convince others that you know how to "play," they begin to bend the rules to accommodate YOU!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> It is that simple! Here is an example of a pic made in Bryce that didn't win any awards throughout the 3D arts community, but it will be coming out in the near future as a pro print commercially:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Which would you rather have?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> To get better prepared, however, know what you want and how much flexibility you have to work with in advance, such as, what the market or industry will bear. Translated: don't shoot yourself in the foot by going out on a limb.
<DAZ_Biggie> Please submit questions by clicking on the @QuestionBot user on the right hand side of your screen
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Don't annoy potential prospects or become obnoxious. Instead, let them come to you after you've given them a tease. I know it is hard, but just chill out and wait. You'll be glad you did.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> and no... I'm not related to the Ever Ready Bunny...
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Obtain copies of art contracts and study them, and learn how to modify them to suit your own needs. Keep them on hand. Among them, focus on these three primary differences (i.e., contractual objectives):
<Beadazzle> Have you ever considerd writing a book on bryce?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Some helpful links are:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Beadazzle: interesting... no... not really... but it would be sort of fun, I just wonder if enough would really value it...??
<Lunastar> Do you use anyother programs for your art?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: yes... many... among them ---two brushes... Zbrush... and Twistedbrush.... I love them both!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Some helpful links are:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.lawdepot.com/contracts/usa/?pid=google-contracts_us-contracts_d&s_kwcid=contract|485090649&gclid=CMv-3LPb5YgCFU5xFQodtGZ-og
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.findlegalforms.com/xcart/customer/home.php?partner=google&alphabetical=yes
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> a.) NON-EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS: The right of the licensee to reproduce an image commercially for a specified length of time with respect to specific products. http://builder.com.com/5100-31-5082427.html
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This can be for a FLAT FEE, or on a royalty payment basis. It does not prevent other competitors from using the same art for the same purpose. But this arrangement often pays the LEAST amount.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Generally, agreements with art for commercial screensaver and wallpaper outlets pays $55 to $120 an image on average, depending on WHO you are, and how badly they want it.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This also applies to actual print and novelty items sales, but is generally by royalties ranging from as little as five percent of retail receipts to 35 percent. But this depends on WHO you are, and what the demand in play is.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Sometimes it may not sound like a lot when you only get five or 6 cents for a 99-cent retail item; but it can add up quickly when the numbers reach the hundreds of thousands in a hurry. So, never underestimate the small stuff.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> b.) EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS: This effectively licenses art to a specific product TYPE, which means that no one else manufacturing or producing the same widget can use it. http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode17/usc_sec_17_00000106----000-.html
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS arrangements can be made via FLAT FEE or a ROYALTY contingency basis as well, but for a much higher amount. It must be because it prevents others from using it in that manner.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Typically, a known author or publisher wanting an image to grace a cover of what they hope to help sell copies is worth a flat $500 fee. A cover to a magazine is the same. Just weigh in how they NEED your art to make money themselves. Stand your ground and be firm.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> But do NOT cut yourself short and give away the farm either, and at the same time, don't scare them away by being ridiculous. A doodle might be okay if the one making it is already famous, but it usually won't be if it's by you.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> c.) ABSOLUTE EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS: This is basically selling the art outright, which in effect, grants the purchaser total control over the art from that day forward---as if you had nothing to do with it.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> This goes for the highest amount, naturally. Typically, I offer ABSOLUTE EXCLUSIVITY RIGHTS for a single image starting at $2,500 and often much higher. But this depends on YOU! Do not let your love affair with a picture ruin your chances.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Consider something. I have made pictures entirely in Bryce in under a half an hour that sold for as much. You tell me, was it worth it? I think so, but you may not. Many, however, like to buy art outright. So keep a general idea in mind BEFOREHAND. Be ready at all times to deal!
<leolore> What are the top 3 shortcuts that you use to speed up your work with Bryce?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Leo: thanks for asking...lol.... CTRL+Z, of course.... UNDO, and that's because I make so many mistakes!!!! They come naturally to me
<Burpee> Hi Jonathan. Do you believe that luck has anything to do with an artist's success or is everyone capable of success?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Leo: CTRL+C for copy and CTRL+V for paste
<DAZ_Biggie> Please submit questions by clicking on the @QuestionBot user on the right hand side of your screen
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Burpee: thanks for coming!!! Yes... there is some luck, and I am living proof. If you had told me in 1999 that millions would be getting copies, I would have said you're nuts.... but... it is more in how you GO ABOUT IT.... Think BUSINESS, and less artist.... exchange hats frequently and keep them separate
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> When someone asks you for a price, you must be quick to respond, and make it seem as if it is routine for you. Do not let them know you're excited; otherwise, they'll try to get your next piece for much less. The point is: do not beat around the bush.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Use the web to research the market, which extends around the globe. Consider the obvious: whatever an image can be affixed to is fair game. Here is the tip of the iceberg:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> BOOK COVERS ~ BROCHURES ~ CALENDARS ~ CATALOGUES ~ CD/DVD JACKETS ~ COFFEE MUGS ~ GAMES ~ GREETING CARDS ~ JIGSAW PUZZLES ~ KEY CHAINS ~ MAGNETS ~ MOUSE PADS ~ MURALS ~ NOTEBOOKS ~ PLACE MATS ~ POSTERS ~ SCREENSAVERS ~ TEE-SHIRTS ~ TOYS ~ WALLPAPER

<DAZ_Biggie> BTW, we're going to go longer to make up for the initial delay... so stay tuned... :-D
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.browntrout.com/index.asp
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> For each type of product, there are hundreds of companies making them. As a general rule, small independent companies are better than the large conglomerates, and that's because they can make decisions and act quickly.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://pages.us.com/adsection.php?link=MD00NTM4NTM2Mj0zNzI4JmJpZG1hdGNoPXMmYmlka2V5d29yZD1wbGFjZW1hdHMmcHJvdmtleXdvcmQ9cGxhY2VtYXRz&gclid=CMmCtMHi5YgCFRlSGgodT00zlQ
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Large companies may be better equipped, but they tend to be top heavy. Making small decisions takes eons to bring about and they are less hungry or energetic toward actually doing something with your art.

<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> There's an old saying, "Why talk to the arse when you speak to the head?" In a smaller company, getting the attention of the head is easier and faster, and they will act while the others are still "thinking" about it.
<Kuanbyr> What is the best way to get mountain peaks to go up through the clouds?
<Kuanbyr> What is the coolest effect that you have been able to do in Bryce?
<Kuanbyr> How do you make a convincing heavy fog?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Kuan: :) Still awake? LOL hmmmm. learn to use slabs and CUBES to mimic slabs, with limited ,parameters....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Kuan: the coolest effect ever was causing blurring with 2D objects to create the visual illusion of trees moving...as if the wind were blowing
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I use all sorts of things to create fog...volumetrics.....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but I also render cloud patterns to disk and import them back into Bryce to be applied directly to objects
<DAZ_Biggie> Please submit questions by clicking on the @QuestionBot user on the right hand side of your screen
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> they don't always work out, but I keep working on it until it does...patience...
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Lastly, don't discuss the terms and conditions of your contract with others or reveal the details. Most companies despise that, and may even sue you for violating that trust. The reason is: others may be under contract as well. Loose lips sink ships!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Okay. We've covered some of the basic stuff. Now consider a few other alternatives: get an agent! A good agent can be worth his/her weight in gold. They can often open doors that you will never get through.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Here are some links that might be a good place to start:
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://artdeadline.com/?gclid=CM6wiPPZ5YgCFTA8FQod9SBvpw
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.artxpo.com/agents/agents.html
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.fineartwest.com/
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> http://www.artquest.org.uk/exhibit/agents/visualart.htm
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> There are hundreds of places actually. Just make sure you put your best foot forward when you make contact, and remember to think human nature!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> But more importantly, what does it matter what an agent gets paid in terms of a fair percentage? You'll discover that giving up a percentage of what amounts to nothing is worth far less.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> In essence then, let them have what they want and don't worry about it. I want my agents to become filthy rich, and for good reason. But if you take away their incentive, you will not find them very energetic about going the extra mile for you.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> In comparison, consider it like having to pay a huge amount in taxes after winning the lottery. Although you may not like parting with it, you still come out way ahead! The same applies to securing a top notch agent. Just let them do their job! That is what they do best!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Learn the Thomas Kinkade example and put it to memory and then into actual practice. Whether you like his art is not the point. Allow me to explain. http://contracts.onecle.com/media-arts/kinkade.lockup.1997.12.08.shtml
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> 1997 was Kinkade's debut on the art scene. Up until then, he was selling paintings from the trunk of his car. By 2004, he netted over $500 million, making him the world's wealthiest artist. How did he do it?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Here is the three-part ANSWER: He let others do it for him! He let others do it for him! He let others do it for him! Remember that because it really works.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> So what I'm saying is, GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY and let others feel like they have a STAKE in your art, and they will go well beyond what you could have. In sum: LEARN TO SHARE in the proceeds. Don't be ignorantly GREEDY.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The "trick" is getting your art in many places at the same time, such as premium framed examples in 3,000 art stores or in hotel chains, or in shopping malls or large department store outlets. Just get it out there. Think BIG, not small!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> If you think the world has had enough art, think again. There's plenty of room for everybody. So don't let your paranoia and willingness to accept defeat each time a door is slammed in your face discourage you. Everyone goes through that!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The idea is: never give up. Put together a professional package, play the game, and stay the course by following through. Don't just talk about it. Do it! Make the time, stop procrastinating. Turn off the boob tube and turn on your thinking cap!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Good things indeed come to those who wait, but even better things come to those who GO AFTER IT. If you like the idea of collecting paychecks while riding around on your yacht, then do something about it. Don't expect it to fall into your lap.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Leave your dreaming to creating art, not trying to rationalize fantasy into reality in a business sense. Chances are you'll be very disappointed. And stop insisting on MAKING THE WORLD LOVE YOU. Generally speaking, you're the only one who cares.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> When creating a picture, don't confuse your excitement with how well the technology allows you to make things with what it takes to make good art. The public may have loved the movie Titanic, but they didn't care how it was made.
<Lunastar> Did or do you use a traditional medium for your art?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: yes... I draw things by hand, which is my nature because of art being a part of me since day one... as the tech has improved, my hand eye coordination has increased in direct proportion to the advances... :)
<LeChatDesigns> Have you ever had to deal with copyrights violations? How do you recommend dealing with the situation?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> LeChat... hiya! You're still breathing... The larger companies all have attorneys who watch for that, but I also have others who scour the web,,, usually, it is no big deal... small users are not a threat, only those who would take art and sell raw prints in other countries hoping you don't discover them doing it....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> In the end, it is still the story that counts, and that's because it's about art stupid! Speaking of which, it is the one idea I have to constantly remind myself about BEFORE going off the deep end; and so should you. I am not saying anyone is dumb per se, but we all make dumb mistakes.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bryce and digital art in general have been very good to me. I do not envy the success of others. I admire it. But if I've managed to accomplish something, I don't mind sharing it.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> You are your own boss the day you decide to be, even while you haven't gotten a single dime yet. It's your attitude that paves the way, after all, and more than likely what you don't know and haven't done up to now that's blocking your chances.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Simply take off your artist's hat, and get down to business. There's no shame in making mistakes, but plenty with respect to refusing to learn by them. Hence, forge ahead and don't look back.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> With that, I would love to answer any questions if I'm able here or by e-mail, and thank you all for coming. I hope some of this was as helpful to you as it was enjoyable for me to provide.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I leave you with my first finished pic for 2007 called "Summoned By Awe" to say, in effect, that your art can summon many more than it does right now with a little effort and planning. But by all means, go for it!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist>
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Here is the FREE wallpaper for the same image made especially for wide screen monitors. It will give you a much better idea with respect to details, though, for sure: http://www.shortcummings.com/Summoned%20By%20Awe-WALLPAPER.jpg
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> The programs I use most are: Adobe Photo Shop, Bryce (of course), Carrara, DAZ Studio, Hexagon, Lightwave, Paint Shop Pro, Poser, Super Goo, Twisted Brush and Zbrush. I also use a Wacom Intuos 3 6x11 digital pen/tablet and a Kensington Expert track ball mouse.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I will hang around here for a while and answer any additional questions providing I don't need to write a book or make a career out of answering them. Thank you for coming! And may your upcoming holidays be everything you have always wanted.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I hope you're not all dizzy....
<DAZ_Biggie> Thanks, Jonathan... :-D We're going to pump through some more questions now, so don't go anywhere! :-D
<rmash1948> Thank you for coming again to speak with us, Jonathan. Hopefully. Qbot didn't upchuck my question. If so, no biggie. I'm just glad to be here and have you here as well. ::hugs::

<DAZ_Biggie> *webshots :)
<Thuh Granantlet> Do you find yourself using Bryce to construct non-primitive shapes out of primitives, or do you use something else to model the figure, and then import it?

<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Yahoo
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> MSN
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bryce questions... uh oh.... :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Thus: well.... as a challenge today I use Bryce, or when the sitaution calls for something fast... Bryce is still quick, even though it cannot compete with some of the modelers just yet in terms of absolutel details... Like pain in the neck Lightwave
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I look smooth and fast
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> in fact, whatever works!!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but I could make just about anything in Bryce if I set my mind to it... I didn't say it would win any awards, but it would be as planned
<DAZ_Biggie> Well, thank you, Jonathan, and thanks to everyone that stuck out the technical issues. I think the wait was well worth it!

<AzureBlue> Thank You Jonathan! You have always been most generous with your art. I discovered you on Webshots back in 2001/2002. You are the reason I have been doing terrain and fractal art over at renderosity
<debb6425> remind me to play with my wacom....=)
<Claywoman> Ok thanks so much! Have a great night, I took notes!

<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Azure: ah... well... its not about me... it's about YOU... so why would I not want to generous... thank you!
<darkphoenixrising> Bryceheart, I picked up a graphire 4x5. A great low cost tablet for beginners. Do you agree?
<debb6425> I have the one that jonathan has....just only used it once so far
<kulay> not that I came for one
<kryten> I would be interested in your opinion of some of my CG art at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ephoto/sets/1021605/
<LordNikon> *E* * LordNikon Goes to webshot to look for Bryce Renders.
<Terrell> I have the little Wacom and I love it
<Lunastar> Would the Bryce World 4 book be helpful to those of us using Version 6?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I haven't a clue about surprizes... I'm still dizzy :)
<JRPhoel> wow, folks is bouncing left & right, and some not by their own choice
<Byrdie> ::not sure they can make a WACOM big enough for me::
<kulay> *E* * kulay gives bryceheart a glass of water
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> yes... Dark: anything is better than nothing..I still have one from 1999....lol... but my new ones obviously works better
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bryce 4 YES will be helpful in NUMEROUS WAYS
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I consider it a MUST READ
<Terrell> lol@Byrdie
<Lunastar> I have the intos 12 x12 it is wonderful
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> many of the basics are covered
<leolore> ... does a WACOM work directly with Bryce?
<debb6425> hmmm
<caligreal> Bryceheart have you ever decided to keep a work for yourself once your were finished?
<leolore> or you you use it with an image editor and import things?
<LordNikon> *E* * LordNikon uses a 3 button optical mouse.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Leo: in truth, Bryce is not "offically" programmed... for a Wacom, however. I have used mine anyway with much success....
<kulay> How can I get bryce 4 if it is so great?
<Lunastar> I'll head to BAM to order it tonight. Hubby needed another holiday gift for me. LOL
<Byrdie> Seriously. I'm legally blind, need a big, BIG drawing space. :-)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but I know they are working on changing that
<bernards> Kulay: Good luck trying to find a copy...I've been looking since September.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Cali: hmmm... interesting question... YES.... I have many that no one has ever seen outside of family....mostly morphs though
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> That I don't know... where to get the Bryce 4 book
<Swade> You can get a copy at Amazon.com
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I'm still lucky to have kept Bryce 5
<kulay> I have Bryce 5, bryce 5.5, and bryce 6
<rmash1948> Same here, kulay. ::chuckles::
<bernards> Swade: That's where I've been waiting since September...keeps getting backordered.
<loveablekiki7456> i have bryce 5 but not quiet sure hhow to use it yet
<Lunastar> Also try BAM (bookamillion)
<LordNikon> *E* * LordNikon has B5 And B6.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Leo: I use it to draw on a huge scale.... 5400x3600 MINIMUM..... I like detail, naturally, and that is the SUPREME TOOL
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> it allows me to draw for real!
<Kuanbyr> The first copy of Bryce that I bought was way back at Bryce 3.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> just the way I did all my life... it is terrific tech!!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> it is a super tools
<darkphoenixrising> Bryceheart, one final question: For people who can not afford programs like Photoshop. Would you suggest The Gimp as a good alternative? Or have any other suggestions?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I can do oil paintinng as good as any brush
<kulay> I have used a tablet (non-wacom) a bit and I think I can draw better than with a mouse
<leolore> hehe, I have to work at everything when drawing by hand, but there are some things that it's just as bad or worse with a mouse.
<LordNikon> BH: 5400x3600 is huge on my monitor.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> dark" I would highly recommend TWISTED BRUSH....Paint Shop Pro by corel... which is fairly cheap
<Faerie Fanatic> Bryceheart thanks for all the tips!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Paint Shop Pro works perfect for cutting out backdrops and making PNG files to import into Bryce
<Eliza-Beth> Thanks Bryceheart, very informative :) Btw, you wouldn't happen to know the Refraction Index of chrome would you?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> they seem to work the BEST
<kulay> I have played with twisted brush some
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> welcome... tips are free.... enjoy!
<kulay> I have photoshop elements 4 but not paint shop pro
<debb6425> Thank you
<darkphoenixrising> Thank you. I have a slight hangup about Photoshop with the high cost. I apologize for the question.
<LordNikon> Twisted Brush is nice.
<Terrell> I still work with PS7 and I have PE3 but I don't really like it
<Faerie Fanatic> Guess I better get back to work. Bye Everyone!
<dtagonhunter> you know a good tutorial for bryce 5 im clueless when it comes to bryce
<debb6425> bye
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Eliz: off the top of my head...lol... funny you shoudl ask.. I suggested that Bryce include ALL of them as a chart inside the materials lab or DTE
<JRPhoel> IS Twisted Brush available for Mac?
<Poplowicki> Oooh, I love to focus and learn at 3am...;) Thanks Jonathan
<kulay> I have the bryce 6 tutorial dvd
<loveablekiki7456> yea someone asked my question for me thank you dtagon
<kulay> I know twisted brush works in xp
<katibabi> robinwood.com is an awesome tutorial dtagonhunter
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> DT: ah,.... there are many... wawadave on DAZ's mani forum for Bryce talk is the man with links
<midnyte muse> Are we talking twisted brush from Pixarra?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I have a few myself... but they tend to be fairly deep... depending on how you look at it
<Terrell> OK I'm outta here. Thanks again Jonathan
<wawadave 1> THX!!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Midnyte: you got it...Pixarra.com... Ken Carlino is a good man, and has done a great job to make dummies like me happy :)
<Swade> Bernards.... I found you can get a copy of Real World Bryce 4 at this website.... http://www.accessmylibrary.com/comsite5/bin/pdinventory.pl?pdlanding=1&referid=2930&purchase_type=ITM&item_id=0286-2882282
<kulay> will the transcript include links to the softwear you use?
<bernards> Thanks Swade
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> heck... if IO can use it, then anyone can.... it is simple, fun, fast, offers high end, and addictive
<Lunastar> http://www.booksamillion.com/ncom/books?id=3655449146939&type=author&find=Susan+Kitchens Bryce 4 book
<Swade> Here also for a little less http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?S=R&qwork=8667428&qsort=p&siteID=KLVmR9fE2yU-eoWG9OHQxb1V7ffuoUKavQ
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: I don't know... never had one made before... but I hope so...:) I was hoping those who saw them would save them to their favorites just in case
<midnyte muse> I hope the transcrpit includes all the links from tonight lol
<Kaedric> Bryceheart, saw your basic computer stats.. What size monitor you using though?
<Kuanbyr> The Bryce 5.5 tutorial DVD from DAZ is great as well for learning

<rmash1948> Dishes are calling me. Jonathan, thanks again for coming and giving us your expertise, your thoughts, and your presence. ::hugs:: ::poofs::
<Swade> yer welcome Bernards
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Hi ken
<Lunastar> I have the links open to save to favs when we are done here
<kulay> I want to know the links
<LordNikon> BryceTech has some tutorials.
<leolore> Thanks again! time for me to get off the box.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Rmash: ah... I'm just like any of you.... with all the pluses and minus (perhaps a few more of those though I'm afraid. :)
<kulay> do you ever use a render farm?
<Lunastar> Email me and I can send them if the transcript doesn't have them
<Byrdie> Time for me to go too now, thanks for the chat. It was fun. :-)
<darkphoenixrising> Bryceheart, have you tried Microsoft Expression Designer?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> No... I am not big into animation because of the contracts I have... so I have found that stand alone's still work bets overall... I also have quite a few now... :)
<Lunastar> I'm sure this is a stupid question, but what is a render farm?
<kulay> I haven't heard of microsoft expression designer, do you have a link
<kulay> a render farm is a collection of compters in a network to help a render
<dtagonhunter> learning time for me i love tutorials
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Dark: hmmmm good question... I may have... at one point or another I have probably tried everything... but off the top of my head, no... I remember Picture It and silly stuff like that... but nopt the one you just named...
<kulay> you would need a render program that has network rendering
<Lunastar> Thanks Kulay, sounds like something I would want. LOL
<darkphoenixrising> http://www.microsoft.com/products/expression/en/default.mspx
<gchuck> do your fingers ever catch fire?/msg QuestionBot,
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: that is relative to the project and HOW IMPORTANT it is to accomplish
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> lol... yes indeed... they burn baby burn lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I used to host forums years ago
<Butch Rager> thanks
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but I'm a bit rusty now
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> its been a few moons
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> plus
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I do not like wireless keyboards
<kulay> I would love to be able to have a render farm
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> too many miss keys
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I hit the key all right... but it fails to show up
<midnyte muse> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> so I will go back to a hard wired one soon
<dtagonhunter> how much money have you made
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I really love drawing
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> dt: more than a dollar... are you serious? lol.... want my blood type too....:) (O-negative)
<Lunastar> How many hours a day do you spend working in Bryce on average
<Revelation_23> I hope the chat transcript goes up soon. My Internet died AGAIN, so I missed some stuff.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> dt: when under contract... you are NOT allowed to discuss money publicly... I could be sued
<Kuanbyr> I finally found a wireless keyboard that works. It's the Bluetooth Logitech. It doesn't seem to loose things like the normal ones do.
<loveablekiki7456> ouch
<dtagonhunter> oh
<maars_girl> NOT till I get my nickle, you can't!!!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> love: yep... and they are dead serious... the reason is others are under contracts for differing amounts... and it can cause big problems
<Lunastar> Thanks LordNikon
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: it all depends.... once I get involved, I go until I drop... when I used to work a "real" job, I did the same thing.... sometimes I have gone several days in a clip...without stopping
<caligreal> like those employers that dont want you discussing salaries ... they dont want you to know george makes more than you
<kulay> sounds like it can cause big problems
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> so yes... I'm a little nuts...:)
<debb6425> A little?
<loveablekiki7456> lol debb
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I am mandated by my 32 doctors to play with my dog.... Translated: she makes me do it!
<caligreal> *E* * caligreal hi 5's debb6425
<Lunastar> ROFL
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Are you all bored yet?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> fire away
<loveablekiki7456> no
<dtagonhunter> nope
<rosemx> not at all
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> my batteries are still holding out
<darkphoenixrising> Should we be?
<rosemx> was a really informative chat
<Lunastar> YOu are kidding!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> *E* * Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist brain is going though :)
<kulay> no I am not bored
<Revelation_23> dunno if it was asked under moderation: What do you think B6's best feature is, and what do you think Bryce needs come next time?
<Stellarfairie> no but am getting dizzy from being bounced
<caligreal> .oh oh brain fade now we get the good answers
<loveablekiki7456> im still looking for the links to tut on bryce five in main forum
<darkphoenixrising> The exchange of information is never boring.
<Lunastar> Too much information to be bored
<Axe Swipe> hehe.....I got no questions myself, I just find everything interesting and am trying to soak in the information you're giving
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Rose: I certainly hope so.... it was a lot to cover, and I wasn't sure how best to approach it.... you're talking about discussing what tooks years in only minutes
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> tooks... love that lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> now that sounds like my brother talking
<darkphoenixrising> The Cliff's Notes Version!
<debb6425> I think my eyes are spinning in my head now...
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> you should all know
<JRPhoel> Thanks again, Jonathan. Super info. My machine is starting to go into panic mode for some reason, so I better go reboot. Take care!
<kulay> I would like to make money freelancing but I don't know where to start and I missed a chunk of this chat
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bryce is the best buy there is..... and will, if you let it, help you help yourself to have the best time of your life
<LordNikon> Dark: that is why the interentis so popular. lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> JR: same to you! thanks for bearing with me...
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> transacript will be up in a few weeks I was told
<dtagonhunter> where do you get inspiration from anything in paticular
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> they are a little behind
<LordNikon> Internet oops
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but aren't we all
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> DT: LIFE.... the mood of the moment
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I never set out to impress anyone
<caligreal> *E* * caligreal looks at his double wide chair and says nope
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> instead... I just have fun and go with it
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> that's the whole point
<Lunastar> Do you listen to music as you work?
<LordNikon> the wise words of Jonathan :D
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> it's nice to make money... of course, but having fun is at the heart of it
<Lunastar> Making money while having fun is the best kind of money to make
<pekku> What's the bigger render you have done (in pixels)?
<kulay> I like having fun
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: YES..... I love to listen to various things, and a wide range...ut what really gets me going is Yanni.... and the soundtracks to Titanic and Braveheart
<AzureBlue> Jonathan, when not working on projects, what do you do for fun?
<amsolano> well it's been an interesting evening...and a pleasure Mr. Cummings....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> pekku: hmmm.... 1,200dpi...
<darkphoenixrising> Yanni! Powerful music.
<Kuanbyr> Have you been able to make a binary star system in Bryce?
<amsolano> CUL8R everyone...
<LordNikon> so Bryceheart, you do it because it is something you are passionate about?
<amsolano> POOF!!!
<kulay> what is the smallest you have rendered?
<midnyte muse> You should check out Jim Brickman and Blackmore's Night then Jon :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Azure: ah.... a little of everything, just like you... I like to go outdoors... ride horses... play dog "trainer" fish, go on rides on a motorcycle
<pekku> you talked about something like 5300 x 3600
<Kittylitter> so Bryce is better than Vue? *G*
<AzureBlue> :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Lord: yes.... but... sometimes, I start out thinking of one thing, and end up with something not even close to what I started....
<Kuanbyr> Blackmore's Night is some awesome music!
<wawadave 1> if you enjoy what you do it really helps
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> pekeu: 61234x3600@300 is my average size actually
<midnyte muse> Oh and Medwyn Goodall! He is awesome too :)
<loveablekiki7456> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> ooops
<debb6425> wb
<esmerelda23> As a total newbie to Bryce, can you recommend any books or tuts that would be very helpful?
<LordNikon> Wb Bryce
<pekku> 61234?
<debb6425> Thought you could get away that easy, huh?
<loveablekiki7456> http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=43591
<midnyte muse> gotta love those shirt collars to grab him by to drag him back :)
<loveablekiki7456> bryce uts
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> see... wawadave.... thanks for coming... I told them all that you were the guy for LINKS on DAZ... and very good at it
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> lost the mesages... try again... keyboard was having a bad hair night :)
<loveablekiki7456> thats the link to the bryce tuts
<dtagonhunter> so many there
<wawadave 1> http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=43591
<debb6425> hmmm
<Swade> esmerelda23 here is an excellent beginners set of tuts http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/BryceTuts/BryceTutSet.html
<darkphoenixrising> Bryceheart, Thank you for all the information. Have a happy and safe holiday season and Merry Christmas!
<bernards> You were about to say your "average" size
<wawadave 1> newby tuts and links
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> pekku: 6,134x3600 would be the smallest, next to a 5400x3600@300dpi in Bryce's VistaVision format, which is a 3: 2 aspect ratio and technically the start of wide screen....ultimately, 16x9 is the NUMBER
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> same to you
<midnyte muse> That is really awesome Dave...thanks a ton!
<kulay> thanks for the link to bbryce tutorilas
<brady228> Nice tuts thanks
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> wawadave: yes... many would love to know where they can find good tuts.... and there are many... I even enjoy reading the older ones by the big guys, like Peter Sharpe :)
<pekku> thanks
<esmerelda23> Thanks! I know Robin actually, and have visited her page. We both have a Llewellyn connection
<wawadave 1> Thank you bryceheart for that!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> pekku: welcome
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> wawadave: any time! :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> see... I don't bite folks....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> and when I do, I usually bite myself first...
<Lady-Akyashaa> *E* * Lady-Akyashaa wants to be bitten ...
<loveablekiki7456> hmmm
<pekku> Average render time?
<debb6425> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!!!!
<midnyte muse> lol but when ppl hear the stories about you it does put in the untouchable light catagory :)
<debb6425> biting?
<loveablekiki7456> all i see when i look at bryce is total and utter confusion lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> if a dummy like me can get lucky, then how much better off will you be? :)
<wawadave 1> could not figure how to paste here. ctrl-v does it lol
<loveablekiki7456> lol
<midnyte muse> That is alright i tried to keep a copy of the chat for myself and can't figure that out because select all doesn't work lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I have faith... many of you have terrific stuff... don't cut yourself short... just stick with it... don't be discouraged... we all have to wait longer than we'd like at times...
<esmerelda23> Me too. Being a writer and mainly a visual person, the mathematical parameters in Bryce are really confusing to me.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> just take your time.... relax.... practice.... be cool.... good things come to those who wait... it is true!
<loveablekiki7456> yes they are esmerelda
<midnyte muse> When I work in bryce I don't use the math....I use the pleasing to eye side. It is much more blond proof :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bryce will help you get out of the gate....
<Lunastar> Midnyte,
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> there are many great programs....
<midnyte muse> Yeah Luna?
<Kittengirl> midnyte, I do the same thing, if I use the math part my head hurts
<kulay> how many do you own
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bryce is a great starter, yea, but it is capable of going all the way too.... just give it a chance
<Lunastar> Sorry midnyte they will post a transcript in a week or so in the chat archive
<esmerelda23> I am learning a lot every day; I try to do a bit everyday; yesterday I made my first river! It was cool.
<DAZ_jmdarling> faith
<midnyte muse> I just hope the transcript has all the links he shared so I can go through them :)
<Swade> Ultimately Bryce is one of the easier programs that give awesome results that you will find in MHO
<debb6425> I tried my bryce once so far....got frustrated that I couldn't move the mountain plain behind the tree...
<Lady-Akyashaa> Bryceheart: Do you use anything else but Bryce? Or just Bryce for 3D? Sorry i came in late if it has already been answered hehe
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: hahahahaha.... counting plugins... well, once I say, then you'll really think I'm a nut... over 1,000 I think... but I DO NOT know them all well.... no one could know all that!
<debb6425> Do you have to plan out your scene first, or is there a way to do that
<midnyte muse> Hey Kitten!! (big huge hugs) how is my other sissy :)
<Kittengirl> *hugs for Midnyte* hiya... sleepy and sick, you?
<Lunastar> I have them open now and will add them to my favorite. Email me and I'll send them to you
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Lady: I really like to draw... so I have found Zbrush to be right down my alley.... but I'll tell you something, Twisted Brush is one snazzy little lightweight program... and you'll not be dissppointed..
<midnyte muse> doing good and getting ready for a long night of work
<midnyte muse> Thank you Luna!!
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> and it cost a whole lot less
<Kittengirl> me too... well a sleep before a night/morning of work
<Lady-Akyashaa> Thanks bryce, hehe i havent even heard of that, i 've heard of Zbrush though
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> will I be the last man standing? :)
<debb6425> Nope
<LordNikon> lol
<loveablekiki7456> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Lady: thank you! If you learned even one little thing, then I'm very pleased....
<kulay> I have played in the freeware version of twisted brush
<loveablekiki7456> nope
<wawadave 1> 6425 look in this link lots of grate newby help http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=43591
<LordNikon> me too Kulay :D
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: the FREE WARE is fully loaded....
<kulay> cool
<DAZ_jmdarling> Hey, it was great to see all this information that you shared. You have given us an immense amount of invaluable knowledge
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Unlike "some" programs that don't do that... TB comes ready to rock and roll
<debb6425> Thanx wawa, I will check that later on
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Josh: coming from you... I am extremely delighted.... many thanks pal! That means a lot!! :)
<wawadave 1> your wellcome
<DAZ_jmdarling> I have to put my kids to bed, but great job tonight!
<Kuanbyr> I'll have to check out the Twisted Brush, I take it that it is alot like Zbrush?
<Lunastar> Will do midnyte, your welcome
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Josh: hey... don't let me keep ya... that's your most valuable commodity.... I envy you!!!
<debb6425> twisted brush is on my list as well
<kulay> whatis the advantage of buying when the free version is fully loaded?
<DAZ_jmdarling> hehe
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> value and treasure every moment!!
<thomcadman> Missed another great chat. How does one view a transcript of this?
<loveablekiki7456> yep mine too l
<esmerelda23> I have to tell Bryceheart AND Wawadave that their work is AWESOME and gives us ALL inspiration to move forward!
<Lunastar> Yes very inspiring.
<debb6425> *E* * debb6425 is awestruck
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kuan: well, it has some features very much like Zbrush with respect to 2.5D... but it isn't a skulpting program... it is a painting program mostly... with many special effects
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> they both do different things
<esmerelda23> I have NO IDEA how to do it, but I muddle along and have small victories!!
<DAZ_jmdarling> will do
<midnyte muse> Do you have wife and little JAC's running around Jon? And do you get them involved in what you do?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I wish you all the best holiday season ever... and a very Merry Christmas....!!! and yes, I celebrate that.... and aren't we all like kids on that day? :)
<Kuanbyr> I shall look into it, Thanks!
<wawadave 1> my work? wow i,m just a nrwby..
<wawadave 1> newby
<debb6425> yes jonathan, we are....hehe
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Midntye: lol.... suffice it to say... I am private.... with no rug rats....other than four-legged ones.. :)
<Kuanbyr> Merry Christmas to you as well Jonathan!
<wawadave 1> merry xmass to you to!1
<midnyte muse> awww Well the four legged ones are awesome :)
<Lunastar> The four legged ones don't ask to borrow the car. LOL
<debb6425> lol
<kulay> Happy holidays
<midnyte muse> rofl true enough there
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Kuan: may your dreams come true... I always say, never take those you care about for granted, and enjoy every moment.... you never know what can happen in this life
<debb6425> No, but mine want to steal the bed most days
<dtagonhunter> what do you think of this Bryceheart? http://artzone.daz3d.com/index.php?mode=photo_album&act=view&pho_id=60519&p_id=7204
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> anyone wanting to be on my friends list... fire away I will accpet ALL of them
<loveablekiki7456> i did already lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> very smooth... nice metal choice.... good job!
<Kuanbyr> I've fired a friend request to you already, hopefully it worked.
<Revelation_23> jonathan, is there anything you struggle with in your work?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> keep in mind... there is a difference between what I enjoy---like most of you---and what I know the industry prefers...
<Lunastar> YOu are going to have one large network Jonathan. LOL
<Axe Swipe> Just fired away :p
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> yea... I will look at all that when I come up for air
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I thought I would stay longer because I knew many were frustrated with last week
<Lunastar> What was the hardest thing for you to learn in Bryce?
<kulay> I sent out the inventation to be my friend to bryce heart
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Rev: well yes.... being a perfectionist can sometimes make a project seem endless....
<kulay> how did you choose your name
<midnyte muse> I find placement to be the hardest part.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: SUMMER BOUQUET
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> and perhaps Thornton manor
<Axe Swipe> gnite all!
<midnyte muse> Nite Axe :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: do you mean handle in here? or real life name?
<Kuanbyr> Jonathan have you tried Terragen?
<kulay> here
<debb6425> lol
<wawadave 1> nite swipe
<kulay> your handle, bryceheart
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Kuan: only a little...
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: ah... well... we were having fun with the idea during beta over the summer.... and it suddenly popped out when I did a gag with DAZ using the icon
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> with my morphed image..... it was just in fun
<Bexart> Thanks Jonathan, Good night all . . .
<midnyte muse> Jon, which do you think works better for realism, Bryce or Vue?
<Lunastar> Goodnight Bexart
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Bex: thank you.... dream well!
<midnyte muse> Night bex :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> as I always say, if you don't dream, you'll have nightmares....
<Kuanbyr> Night Bex
<midnyte muse> lol
<debb6425> I dream and have nightmares though....LOL
<loveablekiki7456> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> midnyte: ah....BRYCE.... and for one very good reason.... BRYCE RENDERS BETTER... so for pro-shots.... I would be very hard-pressed to use Vue over Bryce, even though Vue (right now) seemingly can do much more....however, that won't last for long
<kulay> My dreams and nightmares are intertwined so that it is hard to tellwhich one is which
<kulay> I haven't tried vue
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I'm not talking about speed now
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> QUALITY
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Vue renders faster, as does most programs
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but watch out for the low quality when enlarged
<Lunastar> So does that mean that Bryce will do even more in the future?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I have learned this the hard way MANY times
<debb6425> right
<aesthete> So you think Bryce has better quality than Vue?
<Kittengirl> I dunno about that, my vue render is still working and it started yesterday
<Revelation_23> I'll gladly wait for a longer Bryce render if it's a better render
<kulay> wow
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> lUNA: OH YES.... HEY... bRIAN wAHNER IS BACK... HE WAS A PIONEER AS FAR BACK AS bRYCE 2
<midnyte muse> Most of the renders i have seen from vue have such an awesome realism effect to them and bryce images can be spotted in a second because of textures and such things.
<debb6425> hmmmm
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> ooops
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> vap lock mental illness ... it happens
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> cap too
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> lol
<Lunastar> So how soon to another Bryce version? And can my pocketbook take it. LOL
<debb6425> age
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: I can't say for sure without being hanged.... but it shouldn't be too awful long.... Bryce 7 is going to be a sensation and will shock most
<midnyte muse> And here I was bribing santa for Vue for xmas lol :)
<kulay> have you ever written a book about bryce
<dtagonhunter> do you have a favorite movie that uses cg stuff
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: not yet
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> one sec....brb
<kulay> I want it if you do
<loveablekiki7456> you should Jon
<debb6425> Did your suggestions impact the production of any of the Bryce program versions?
<Kittengirl> Im off, *hugs Midnyte* was a great chat to get to attend
<midnyte muse> Night sissy! XOXOX Talk to you soon :)
<Kittengirl> I look forward to it
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> back... had to beat the dog lol
<debb6425> No beating of the animals
<debb6425> LOL
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Night Kitten... thanks for coming!
<loveablekiki7456> no beating the dogs lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> hey
<Kittengirl> night Johnathan, thanks for doin the chat
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> did anyone see the gag brushes in Bryce 6?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I was curious... since I ade a huge pile of them
<Swade> gag brushes??? Must not have
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> was trying to slip a few past them to see if they would catch them
<debb6425> no
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Swade: the last three
<Lunastar> I don't even know where to find the brushes in Bryce...LOL
<wawadave 1> nope
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: in the Terrain Editor
<debb6425> no
<Kuanbyr> No, I guess I should look for those! I haven't played enough yet.
<debb6425> yeah, I couldn't find those yet
<Swade> Ok... I'll check them out.
<kulay> I found them
<Lunastar> Thanks Jonathan. I'll check them out.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> wawadave.... yea.... I figured they would catch them...oh well....lol... I have them on mine still, but I didn't know what the public got in the end
<debb6425> lol
<debb6425> shame
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> as for those brushes.... they gave me a WHOLE two hours to come up with them...last minute sort of thing
<wawadave 1> got hrdi render going look for them after is done
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> so I was flying
<debb6425> lol
<kulay> do you have the bryce 6 tutorial video
<wawadave 1> lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> HDRI seems to making a lot of Brycers very happy.... Many in beta really pushed hard for that, and they are still making imporvements now as we speak
<loveablekiki7456> any ideas where i can find paint shop pro tuts
<wawadave 1> 2 hours that was short notice
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: no.... I'd love to see it though....
<dtagonhunter> whats HDRI
<kulay> I have seen some of it
<wawadave 1> i,m dyslexic exscuse my typeing
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> wawadave.... yep... well, I didn't think they realized they could add them until the very last minute... it must have gotten lost in the mix... there was much going on
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> ah... I have the same thing
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> all the time too :)
<kulay> something that gives more realistic renders but take long time
<Lunastar> Google Paint shop pro. Tons of tuts will come up. Or send me an email and I can point you toward a few
<kulay> I think
<loveablekiki7456> k
<debb6425> brb
<Lunastar> Not many that I've found that will help with post work though
<wawadave 1> that london tornado any one see it?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: it is all relative to your needs.... Lightwave can render very fast, as can Zbrush..... but faster doesn't "always" mean better.....
<Lunastar> I've hear zbursh is a very good program though.
<kulay> I am not saying it is better but it will take longer so that you need to keep that in mind and don't use it for a test render, I think
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: I think so....but, it can be daunting for some to use... I liked it and learned it quickly because I like using my hands.... so... it seemed to come quite naturally.... but that may not be the same for everybody
<midnyte muse> speaking of four legged babies...my kitty emmy is pawing at the screen to tell everyone hello lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> kulay: Bryce is getting new things in time anyway.... you'll like the differences.... especially with respect to rendering
<Lunastar> I'm going to check it and twisted out soon.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> midnyte: lol.... sounds like a smart kitty....:)
<wawadave 1> hi kitty
<midnyte muse> She has to be in the middle of everything :)
<kulay> coool
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I know some neighbors who have five cats... and they follow them outdoors wherever they go....just like dogs....it is a riot to watch
<midnyte muse> I have three and all three of them are like that.
<kulay> I need to go through my tutorial dvd so I can understaand bryce more
<Lunastar> Oops Dog needs to go out. If I get bumped off Everyone have a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday, whatever suits. And thank you Jonathan for all this wonderful information. And for sticking around. brb
<debb6425> lol, sounds like my parent's house
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> but then again... I had a horse that followed my like that as well.... I think it all depends on how they're raised, and that comes from simply spending the time
<Jolent> I have a cat like that :)
<midnyte muse> Merry Xmas Luna!!!! *hugs* night :)
<dtagonhunter> here is my kitty http://artzone.daz3d.com/index.php?mode=photo_album&act=view&pho_id=48691&p_id=7204
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> shall I say a good book?
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> HORSES NEVER LIE
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> that's my type of critter book
<Revelation_23> a bit off topic - anyone else have to scraoll all the way down whenver someone says something, or when somebody enters or leaves?
<debb6425> beautiful kitty
<midnyte muse> LOL that is almost how emmy looks...but she has more black on her nose :) I will see about getting some pictures up :)
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Rev: hit the clear chat button....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> that should fix it....
<debb6425> just clear chat
<kulay> can you pet your kitty for me dtagonhunter
<dtagonhunter> shes so cute
<debb6425> oops
<Kuanbyr> Yep, so I hold the bottom arrow down to keep it from jumping to the top
<promiseddreams> wow you are still here!
<midnyte muse> Actually that is an IE7 issue...if you use another browser it won't happen
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> does anyone know how many were here? I couldn't tell... But I was on the horn the whole time... it was very funny.. :)

<Lunastar> My kids play online games with something that lets them talk the name escapes me
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I enjoy your creativity very much
<LordNikon> BH: Me playing in TB. I like weird stuff like this.
<kulay> wow, I hope 2007 would be a great year
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> and I know how hard it can be.... believe me....
<loveablekiki7456> thats cool
<Lunastar> Very cool
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Lord: lol... yep... it goes on and on....
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Nice detail
<DaveMc3D> I was taking background shots a few days ago and saw a deer .
<Lunastar> Interesting texture
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Lord: here's the great part... I know for a fact that TB uses 300 dpi stuff with no effort.... and that means, you can match post work to the rendered pic PRECISELY every time... that is a huge plus
<Jolent> I used to play online games - we used ventrillo to talk to each other....then I realized life was passing me by, lol...
<DaveMc3D> I took a pic but she was too far away .
<loveablekiki7456> we went to get a christmas tree at one of the tree farms around here and there was a deer walking through the trees
<Lunastar> Thank you Jolent. Ventrillo that is the name. LOL
<LordNikon> BH: This is that free version too. lol
<Peterk2004> Look forward to going over the transcript, I got on late. Thanks Bryceheart for staying after and chatting with all of us.
<debb6425> That's cool kiki

<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> on my land in AZ I see Elk... and they're even larger, by far
<Lunastar> We are too built up here now
<Lunastar> I haven't seen a deer in years

<Peterk2004> Transcript should be posted here on Artzone in a few days.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Luna: huh... well, it depends where you live... around here in the boondocks they are everywhere it seems....
<Lunastar> OH that must be so lovely to live where the deer and the elk play
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> Peter: great... I hope it is useful
<debb6425> The most I see is an occasional skunk or raccoon
<dtagonhunter> there is a deer in my freezer yum
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> a wholle lot went by so fast I lost my place...lol
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> I kept asking them... am I going quiick enough on the telephone
<debb6425> I couldn't eat bambi....
<Lunastar> Someday I want to move to the boondocks. This used to be the boondocks. LOL I miss watching the wildlife

<debb6425> I would have to travel to even see much wildlife
<wawadave 1> what country you in?
<Lunastar> I just love all the little creatures and the big ones too.
<DaveMc3D> Luna, we have wildlife and DSL here in Misssouri.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> do you want it at 72 dpi or 100
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> talking to myself again
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> lol
<Jolent> We have lots of deer and elk here in Oregon, but skunks are the ones that visit us here in the country. There is an elk farm and wolf farm (hmm, not sure farm is the word I want, but I'm tired, sorry) close by, so I should go visit them more often....and then remember to take my camera.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> slipped
<wawadave 1> i,m in canaa
<Lunastar> LOL Dave I'll keep that in mind. Do you have hurricanes?
<Revelation_23> We had dozens of deer up on the north end of the city. Then our wonderful city commision had a "culling", and the deer disappeared for a few years. Some have come back, but I haven't been to the island in a few years to see them

<curaduk> Thanks all very much. this has been an enlightening chat and the very first one I have actually managed to attend from here in Oz. Merry Christmas everyone.
<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> AZ has some heat though, that I will say.... but I own land in the White Mountains there at 6,000+ feet
<debb6425> nothing like a white Christmas either

<Bryceheart-- Bryce Evangelist> All right folks... I don't want to wear out my welcome.... It was a pleasure and an honor, and if I can help in any way, just give me a buzz.... I NEVER ignore anyone on purpose.... so be patient, and I'll get back to you... Thank you for this pleasure... Be well, and dream well!
<Revelation_23> I'd rather have a winter with record breaking amounts of snow and not this -30, -40 (not counting windchill) temperatures.
