<DAZ_LaurieS> together we've created the millennium cat, dog, horse, big cat textures
<DAZ_LisaB> separately, I have created "Lisa's Botanicals" lately...

<NaomiSullivan> What program(s) do you use to model your wonderful flowers and do you use photos to create the great textures?
<DAZ_LisaB> I use x-frog to model, z-brush for some shaping , UV mapper, Poser and DAZ Studio to finish up with
<DAZ_LisaB> and for textures, I use Hi-Res photos that I take take with my brand-new Canon 20D ;)
<DAZ_LisaB> I love that camera
<Dilli_ Pyckles> Laurie: What programs do you use to create your background sets with?
<DAZ_LaurieS> Photoshop, painter, and bryce. Bryce is the main program I would say
<DAZ_LaurieS> I like the final renders that come out of Bryce, comparable to more expensive packages. I love the deep terrain editor, material lab and lighting in bryce
<DAZ_LaurieS> I'm most comfortable with this interface too, strangely enough
<DAZ_LaurieS> probably because it was my first 3d app
<DAZ_LaurieS> I was thrilled when Daz bought the program
<moonrancher> I know you don't live in Utah. How often do you visit the main site? How do you manage long distance work?
<DAZ_LisaB> we spend a lot of time on the phone and on email;
<DAZ_LisaB> ...Laurie and I are on the phone together most of the day every day
<DAZ_LisaB> we send lots of emails and have lots of conference calls so that we're as informed as possible
<DAZ_LaurieS> The running joke is that Laurie and Lisa are the little black box in the center of the table

<DAZ_LaurieS> for me, a good background is finding that balance between real and 3d.
<DAZ_LaurieS> the reason I say this is most often we're using a 3d character in the scene
<DAZ_LaurieS> and if your background is TOO realisting it looks out of place
<DAZ_LaurieS> if it's not realistic enough it looks out of place
<DAZ_LaurieS> finding htat balance really determines if it's successfull

<procchi> I've noticed a change over four years - at first, a lot of the PC content was other packages broken into 'bite-sized' chunks. Now it is all original content - but there is still the need to make two or three purchases to get the full effect for some items. Are we going to be seeing more self-contained products, or more of this "product split across two purchases" in future?
<DAZ_LaurieS> we try and create a mix of both.
<DAZ_LaurieS> but we're trying to make sure that the main set is pretty complete now
<Yacomo> Speaking about more diverse content earlier. Will there be more application-specific offers for Studio, Bryce, Carrara, Hex in the future?
<DAZ_LisaB> absolutely, yes. :)
<DAZ_LisaB> we're working on coming up with the best mix of content that benefits the widest possible group of members
